What is required to book a session?
A signed contract and 50% non-refundable retainer are required to hold your session date. This helps me plan and give you my full focus. The remaining balance is due the day of your session.
How do I book a session?
Booking is easy! Simply reach out through my contact form or email me directly. Once we confirm your date and session details, a non-refundable retainer and signed agreement will officially secure your spot.
There is also a booking link under the session type on my services page that will easily let you choose a date and time.
How long does it take to get our photos?
You’ll receive a few sneak peeks within 2–3 days after your session. Your full online gallery will be ready in about 2–3 weeks, carefully edited to reflect the light and story of your session.
I always work diligently to deliver your session in a timely manner while ensuring each image is edited with care and intention.
What is your cancellation policy?
- Cancellations made 7+ days before your session are fully refundable.
- Cancellations made within 7 days of the session forfeit the retainer but may be rescheduled once (based on availability).
- If you cancel within 24 hours or don’t show up, the full session fee will still be due as that time was reserved just for you.
Do you travel for photoshoots?
I’m always happy to travel to capture your story in the places that mean the most to you!
Local Sessions:
Traveling within 40 miles of Indianola, IA is included in your session fee.
Extended Travel:
For locations beyond 40 miles, a small travel fee of $0.65 per mile (round trip) will apply to cover time and expenses.
Overnight Stays or Long-Distance Travel:
If your session requires travel more than 2 hours from my home base or an overnight stay, additional costs such as lodging or transportation may apply. I’ll always discuss and confirm these details before booking so there are no surprises.
Destination Sessions:
I love traveling to new places! If you’re interested in booking a destination session or out-of-state shoot, reach out for a custom travel quote and itinerary.
What should we wear for our session?
At Salt + Light Co., my goal is to capture you as you truly are — natural, joyful, and full of light. The best outfits are the ones that reflect your personality and help you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera.
Here are a few simple tips to help you prepare:
- Wear what feels like you. Your confidence and comfort are what make your photos shine. If you feel good in what you’re wearing, it will show — no matter the color or style.
- Keep it simple and timeless (if that’s your vibe). Soft, earthy tones and muted colors tend to photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on you. But if bold colors or patterns feel more “you,” embrace them! The most important thing is that your outfit reflects your personality.
- Coordinate, don’t match. Choose colors that complement each other rather than identical outfits — it keeps your photos natural and balanced.
- Add texture and movement. Flowy fabrics, cozy knits, or layered pieces add warmth and dimension to your images.
- Think about the setting. If we’re shooting outdoors, consider how your outfit will blend or contrast with the scenery — soft tones in a field, richer hues downtown, or pops of color against greenery all work beautifully.
If you’d like, I’m happy to help you plan your outfits before your session — we can go over colors, accessories, or outfit changes together to make sure everything fits your vision!
Do you offer albums or prints?
All sessions include an online Pixieset gallery where you can order high-quality prints, canvases, and wall art. Custom albums are also an option!
Do you have a studio space?
I now offer an in-home newborn studio experience designed specifically for newborn sessions, as well as a "Bring the Studio to You" option for families who would prefer a studio-style setup in the comfort of their own home for an additional fee.
While I don't currently have a permanent full-time studio space, I also continue to rent beautiful natural-light studios when they best fit a session's vision and needs. This flexibility allows me to create a customized experience for each client while thoughtfully growing my business and portfolio.
I am so grateful for your support, encouragement, and trust as I continue building Salt + Light Co. It truly means the world to me. 🤍
I'm excited for all that's ahead and can't wait to continue creating meaningful images for your families. ✨
Do you do weddings?
I’m a newer photographer currently building my wedding portfolio. While weddings aren’t my main specialty just yet, I’m actively seeking opportunities to second shoot alongside experienced photographers, as well as work with micro weddings and elopements. I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and truly enjoy supporting couples and lead photographers on meaningful, intimate days. If you’re looking for a second shooter or coverage for a smaller celebration—especially for budget-friendly options—I’d love to connect, help capture your story, and continue growing my portfolio.
